"He ruined his perfect streak," they might say, him him having previously made The Iron Giant, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol across the span of a decade. And whilst Tomorrowland is certainly Bird's weakest film to date, in no way does it mark a decline of the man. There are more ideas in Tomorrowland, after all, than you'd likely find in a summer's worth of blockbusters put together - if the execution was lacking, we should be grateful that Bird even tried to create something with so much weight. Truth is, he's still one of Hollywood's best and most consistent filmmakers - a director who really understands how to entertain an audience, and one who knows that heart is often the most important element in any story. You can be sure that Brad Bird will be around for a long ol' time; his name being attached to anything is warrant for giddy levels of excitement. And the fact that he's been lined-up to helm The Incredibles 2 is just about the best news that the universe could have hoped for.
