25 Best Easter Eggs & References In The MCU So Far
4. The 616 Universe Written On A Blackboard (Thor: The Dark World)
One of the coolest and most intriguing Easter eggs - given what it could mean - in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date was the scribbling of "616 universe" on a blackboard by Erik Selvig. Selvig had been doing some equations and working out regarding the Convergence - an event that occurs every 5000 years which temporarily aligns the nine realms - and had included the term in his jotting. The 616 universe is the name designated to the standard continuity of Marvel comics, which suggests that said universe could exist in the same multiverse as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (which is designated Earth-199999, incidentally) - and that's a very cool thought. The board also had "The Fault" written on it which, in the "War of Kings" comics book arc, was a rift formed in space-time and which became a key plot point in The Thanos Imperative. Beyond the Fault lies the universe known as the Cancerverse a universe where death itself is extinct. Could these Easter eggs hint to those storylines coming to the big screen? We will have to wait and see.
