Film: Star Wars When: As Luke begins his attack run There were so many ways Lucas could have shown the X-Wings enter the Death Star trench, but he didn't skimp at all with the incredible P.O.V. shot where the ship approaches the space station from an angle under fire before quickly diving down and levelling out. A major special effects feat at the time, even today it looks great, putting you right in the middle of the battle.
