Film: Return Of The Jedi When: As the Emperor arrives on the second Death Star The point of this shot, which as the introduction of the Emperor is dripping with evil, is scale. The hangar is much bigger than the docking bay on the first Death Star and the number of troops amassed dwarfs those there for Darth Vader's arrival earlier in the movie. This is the might of the Empire, a massive force even when just in ceremony. That there's some striking Nazi symbolism doesn't hurt either.
