25 Best Vampire Movies Ever Made
16. The Hunger
From the opening scene in which English goth rock band Bauhaus perform “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” at a nightclub, The Hunger is a slick and effortlessly cool vampire film that has since been embraced by cult film fans with open arms.
Directed by Tony Scott and loosely adapted from the book of the same name by Whitley Strieber, the film stars David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve as vampiric couple John and Miriam Blaytock who feast on human blood to retain eternal youth. However, when John begins to age rapidly, he seeks the help of Sarah (Susan Sarandon), a researcher in genealogy, which results in a bizarre love triangle.
Although it received a mixed reception when it first hit screens in 1983, with Roger Ebert slating it as “an agonisingly bad vampire movie”, there is still a huge appetite for this glamorously gothic vampire flick today.
