25 Best Vampire Movies Ever Made
21. Blade
Following the success of Tim Burton’s Batman in 1989, the 90s were a strange decade for comic book films. With the likes of Batman & Robin, Spawn, and Judge Dredd giving the genre a bad name, these films weren’t taken seriously. That was until Blade came along in 1998.
Starring Wesley Snipes as the titular half-human, half-vampire, this film from director Stephen Norrington and writer David S. Goyer has been credited for paving the way for the popularity of comic book movies in the 2000s, and it’s not hard to see why.
Although the film is very much a product of its time with regards to its special effects and hyperactive editing style, this isn’t enough to dampen the surprisingly hard-hitting and pulpy action sequences.
Sure, Blade is as cheesey as a '90s movie can get, but, more importantly, it’s simultaneously an entertaining comic book movie and a fun vampire movie.
