A top tier splatter fest is beloved with its legions of cult fans the world over and for good reason too - just look at how bright that green goo glows. This H.P Lovecraft adaptation is an early, but yet a sublime example of how horror and comedy can mesh together as one and not have the final product turn out jarring.

Dr Herbert West who is played brilliantly by Jeffrey Combs, is the driving force of this movie as he portrays the scientist's descent into madness, all so he can solve the key to life and death. With green glowing goo of course. Herbert West does manage to bring people and animals back to life, but not everything is the same with the once dead experiments.

So much love and care went into bringing Re-Animator to life and it is a true achievement, not only of the zombie genre, but that of the entire genre of horror. There is a perfect blend of strong characters, memorable moments, horrendous gore - all this woven to the beats of classic storytelling and with a few laughs along the way.
