25 DVD Easter Eggs You Need To See Before You Die

23. Watch All The Cameras Fast & Furious Destroyed

From one celebrated cinematic franchise to another, the fourth in the Fast and the Furious series carried on the grand traditions of its predecessors: barely concealed sexual tension between its beefcake protagonists (back to Vin Diesel and the dearly departed Paul Walker, in this case), a ludicrously loud soundtrack, and a lot of CGI-augmented street races featuring cars that would cost more than all our annual paychecks combined. Well, maybe not quite, but we're certainly not getting a 2001 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 anytime soon. For all the ridiculous computer animated shots of nitrous being pumped into muscle car's engines - or however it is NOS works - though, there's plenty of stunts in Fast & Furious that were filmed practically. So many, in fact, that they were able to compile footage of all the film cameras that the cars actually being driven totally wrecked whilst making the movie. It's as gloriously stupid and violent as the rest of the film, and this montage of camera destruction is hidden on the DVD's special features as a classic easter egg. How to find it: On the special features menu highlight "South of the Border: Filming in Mexico" and navigate right to reveal a broken camera.

22. Watch The Ring Video (If You Think That's A Good Idea...)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkVlC2WgEwc Honestly, we don't know what sort of morbid fascination would lead you to wanna watch the infamous video that spreads death and despair in The Ring movies, but each to their own. Gore Verbinski's 2002 Hollywood remake of the cult classic Japanese horror film swapped the native cast out for Naomi Watts and Brian Cox - and introduced a horse committing suicide, for some reason - but otherwise remained pretty faithful to the source material. Including the video. The (now slightly dated) story of a vengeful ghost being summoned by a cursed videotape that kills whoever watches it within seven days, the concept of The Ring is spooky enough in itself before you actually get to the dang VHS. It's a pretty abstract series of surreal, dark images, but to this day just watching it in isolation - even on a sunny day like today - will give us the willies. Thankfully viewers aren't subjected to the full video whilst watching the film: we catch glimpses whenever a character is brave/stupid to watch it themselves. Knowing that we humans do have a natural curiosity for terrifying things, the makers of The Ring DVD decided to give viewers a chance to masochistically submit themselves to the lank-haired Samara's attention by tucking the full video away on the main menu, and all but daring us to find it. How to find it: On the main menu, navigate to the text reading "LOOK HERE".
