Plot: The characters from the old X-Men trilogy join forces with their younger selves as they fight for their survival across two different time periods. This will be the seventh film in the X-Men franchise. Usually, a franchise's seventh film is running on empty. How do you go through six movies and still keeps things fresh? Well, the way X-Men has brought together the old and young cast is definitely enough of a reason to get excited. This cast is just insane: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, and Sir Ian McKellen will all be in this film. I talked about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 juggling too many characters, I cannot even imagine how this one will play out. Director Bryan Singer has already announced a sequel to Days of Future Past, which is slated for a 2016 release, so he must have a lot of confidence in this film. And who would have thought that X-Men: First Class would be the film to get people excited for the franchise again? When a franchise announces a prequel which features none of the actors from the original movies, that tends to be a sign of desperation. But, that did not turn out to be the case with First Class. Now, it will be just as exciting to see McAvoy and Fassbender reprise their roles as Xavier and Magneto as it is seeing Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen get back in the fold as well.
