25 Greatest Film Deaths This Century

3. Allie - Terrifier 2 (2022)

Boromir Death The Lord Of The Rings
Bloody Disgusting

With Terrifier 2, director Damien Leone took his malevolent monster Art the Clown (David Howard Thornton) mainstream, hitting the big screen in the big-name cinemas that this sort of obscene splatter slasher would have been outright banned from in years gone by. Neither wanting to disappoint his existing fans, nor go easy on new ones, Leone gave us an extra-long helping of hell with an assortment of cruel and unusual new punishments meted out by the now unquestionably supernatural clown.

On Halloween night, Art descends on Miles County, once again looking for blood, and squirms into the lives of the Shaw family, whose daughter Sienna (Lauren LaVera) may just hold the key (and the sword) to his defeat. But first, he makes the rounds in the neighbourhood with a spot of trick or treating.

Sienna’s friend Allie is one of Art’s first victims, and he gives her everything he’s got. An unspeakably brutal and extreme sequence in Allie’s home has art slice her eye, scalp her, cut her arm off, flay the skin from her back and literally rub salt in the wound, and then gradually dismember her piece by piece. When Allie’s mother returns home, she finds her daughter literally in pieces but still just barely able to speak, kept alive by Art purely to torment her.

It's grim, horrifying and nigh-unforgivable, and just Does. Not. Stop. But it’s unlike any other death scene modern horror has produced, and for that it must be commended.
