The Ending: Dr. Stone's (Sandra Bullock) escape capsule re-enters the Earth's atmosphere, crashing into a lake. As smoke and water fill the capsule, Stone hurriedly escapes to shore, taking her first steps back on land, and finally beginning to walk off into the distance as she awaits rescue. Why It's Awesome: Because having spent the entire movie in space, it's simply a relief to be back on terra firma. Plus, Stone's final escape provides an added thrill after landing on Earth, because drowning once she crashed into the lake would've been horrendously ironic. In addition, the imagery is gorgeous and Stephen Price's triumphant score is unforgettable.
