25 Greatest Warner Bros Movies Ever
9. All The President's Men
If you want to watch a film about what journalism used to be, watch All The President's Men. It was never all about following exciting scoops, churning out exclusives and basking in the glory of reader adulation, it was about waiting and picking at layers of half-truths and false-leads and waiting a bit more.
In essence, All The President's Men is just about the most brilliant boring movie there's ever been. It's like watching a fuse slowly burn, sometimes stuttering, sometimes being diverted, sometimes being stomped almost completely out as Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford's wide-eyed youthful hacks try and take down the presidency.
There's an urgency and a poignancy to the piece that feels even more relevant now, and luckily there's a timelessness afforded by the strength of the writing and the performances that pushes any distracting concerns about the film's age off a cliff.
