25 Greatest Warner Bros Movies Ever

8. Argo

Ben Affleck is one of the greatest directors working today. That's the same Ben Affleck who appeared in Mallrats, Gigli and Paycheck... It's like he was bodysnatched or something.

In Argo, he spins a disturbingly compelling, horribly tense yarn about the real-life government workers who ended up trapped in Tehran and a rescue plan so ludicrous you'd barely believe it of a film. And he puts the responsibility of selling the story (both within the story and in real life) on himself, once more proving to be his own talisman of success.

He's joined by an incredible supporting cast, including John Goodman, Brian Cranston and Scoot McNairy, and they all interact to create an authentic period piece whose fuse burns slowly but builds to a hell of a crescendo as the group race to escape the country. It rightly won him a Best Film Oscar, and it stands as his greatest achievement to date.

Let's hope he can do the same for Batman.
