25 Greatest Warner Bros Movies Ever

7. Goodfellas

Widely considered to be THE seminal gangster movie, Goodfellas positively bristles with Martin Scorsese's own personal brand of story-telling swagger. It's stylish, almost arrogantly confident (that tracking shot is simply outrageous), and there's no fat on the production: it is edited slickly, and while there are stylistic quirks and director trademarks they don't insist and they don't distract.

Joe Pesci is phenomenal, Ray Liotta too and Robert DeNiro is like the solid, dependable anchor that allows their greater emotive performances to shine. Around them you have a who's who of gangster supporting actors, adding a gloss of authenticity and a real immersion factor.

It's a bona-fide classic, which is endlessly entertaining, masterfully crafted and utterly timeless, and despite the violence and the microcosmic culture, there's a universal appeal to it thanks to Scorsese's effortless ability to drench you in the story.
