Alright, let's get the negative stuff out of the way first: Barty Crouch Sr is a truly terrible father. It's not all his fault that his son turned out to be a psychotic Death Eater who kept a Ministry Auror locked in a trunk for the better part of a year in an epic plot to bring back Voldemort, but he certainly didn't help matters. But does that mean that he deserved to be the victim of patricide? Nope. Because here's the thing: Crouch is just this guy, you know? And as pompous and officious as he is in the beginning of the story, it's genuinely affecting when he fights off the Imperius Curse and is desperately trying to inform Dumbledore about what his son is doing. So it's with a twinge of regret and sadness when we find out from little Barty Crouch Jr, in his monotone, emotionless voice, that his father was one of the many casualties of the Goblet Of Fire.
