#7 - $1.274 billion Frozen was a phenomenon. The reception to the Disney movie was bigger than anyone ever expected, and it quickly developed a devoted fanbase made up of both children and adults alike. Full of catchy songs, it's thought that, after production, costs, Disney earned well over $1.3 billion in revenue following its release thanks to its strong box office takings, digital downloads, discs, and television rights. That doesn't even include merchandise! There was more to Frozen than just the music though, and the beautifully animated movie was smartly written and delivered a fresh take on the clichéd "Disney Princess" characters. However, it didn't shake the formula up that much, and that'll stop it from going down as a true animated classic from the studio. Unlike many of the other movies featured here that reached the $1 billion mark in as little as a few weeks, Frozen was a movie with legs, and it wasn't until its 101st day of release that it reached the impressive milestone. That makes its achievements no less impressive though, especially as Frozen ended up being 2013's highest grossing movie. Amazingly, it wasn't until 2015 that a sequel was officially - and expectedly - announced by Disney. Frozen hasn't been forgotten in the meantime though, with live-action versions of the characters popping up in TV series Once Upon A Time and an animated short released with Cinderella.
