13. David Simon And Ed Burns Collectively Held Almost Every Job Portrayed In The Show
One the most powerful aspects of The Wire is its believability and its adherence to generating an authentic image of Baltimore. This is partially down to the previous experiences of its co-creators David Simon and Ed Burns. Simon had been a crime journalist with friends in political positions, which explains his deep comprehension of homicide cases, the media and politics. Burns, meanwhile, was once a police detective himself and also worked as a schoolteacher. Many of the characters in the show were directly inspired by their experiences.
