Another of the iconic elements of the character of Omar Little is the facial scar that runs down the side of his face. Many believe that this is a fake, designed to make his character appear tougher, but in fact it is a real scar. Michael K. Williams explains that, at the age of twenty-five, he was attacked by a group of men outside a party one of whom held a razor blade in his hand and swiped it down Williams face. Interestingly, this helped rather than hindered his blossoming media career. Formerly a dancer, directors now hired him as a thug. The scar (as well as, of course, his fine acting skills) helped him to land the role of Omar Little.
