When Daniel Craig's casting was made public knowledge, fans went berserk.

Why? Because Craig has blond hair. Within a day, he was nicknamed James Blond.

He was also criticised because he is only 5ft 10, making him the shortest actor to portray the character. All of the other actors were 6ft 2 apart from Roger Moore who was 6ft 1.

Since Casino Royal was a reboot, fans didn't like that Bond was going to depicted as a rookie rather than an experienced spy.

Despite the negativity, Craig took the role very seriously. He read all of the Bond novels and met with several secret agents to make his performance more authentic.

The criticisms subsided as soon as the trailer for Casino Royale dropped. The most iconic shot in the trailer is when Bond rises from the sea, showing off his muscular physique.

Ironically, this famous shot was created by accident. The reason why Craig suddenly rises is because he walked on a sand bank. Nevertheless, it was this shot where everyone seemed to give Craig a chance as the new Bond.

When Casino Royale was released in 2006, it was considered one of the best Bonds ever and grossed $599 million, which is over $100 million more than the previous most successful Bond film.

So, it all worked out... or so it would seem...
