In every film, Bond is equipped with an array of gizmos for his dangerous missions. These gadgets vary from being simple (trackers, knockout darts), to the extreme (jetpacks and invisible cars).

Now, Bond has never been known for its realism so it's easy to assume that these gadgets were concocted for the movies and have no basis in reality.

However, some of the most iconic gadgets are 100% real. Thunderball begins with Bond blasting off in a jetpack. Considering this film is 54 years old and jetpacks still malfunction nowadays, any normal person would assume the device is simply a prop.

Nope. That jetpack was fully operational. In the scene, it was piloted by an engineer called Bill Suiter. At the time, only two people in the world were qualified to fly them. The jetpack’s official name is the Small Rocket Lift Device (SRLD).

In From Russia, With Love, Rosa Kleb is armed with a poisoned knife inside her shoe. This weapon was actually used by the KGB.

The invisible car in Die Another Day is considered the dumbest gadget in the entire franchise even though it is based on real technology that the US Air Force uses called “daylight” stealth aircraft.

However, this technology is nowhere near as advanced as is depicted in the film.
