Release Date: July 21st

Billed As: Luc Besson's bonkers belated sci-fi follow-up to The Fifth Element, starring Dane DeHaan as Valerian and Cara Delevingne as Laureline as they seek to stop a universal threat on Alpha, the “city of a thousand planets."

Why We’re Excited: Besson might not be the most beloved director, but he's shown flashes of his wild imagination before - particularly in The Fifth Element - and his return to material that encourages that sort of creativity should be widely heralded as a positive.

The comic book Valerian is based on provides a solid story base, he appears to have a charismatic central pair in DeHaan and Delevingne and everything we've seen so far suggests it's going to be a technicolour, mad-cap dream - slickly produced and deeply committed to strange spectacle.
