Billed As: A prequel in the phenomenally successful Conjuring series, explaining where possessed doll Annabelle came from as a dollmaker and husband (haunted by the death of their daughter) open their home to a nun and her orphan charges when the orphanage is closed down.

Guess who decides to spoil the happy home...

Hype: It might be a little daft to have an origin movie spinning out of an origin movie (Annabelle already basically did that), but the film is still guaranteed to find its audience in the Conjuring movies' fans. And if it delivers on the same sort of scares, it'll work well.

The fact that Lights Out director David F Sandberg is leading the horrors is a big plus, as his previous was genuinely creepy.
