Billed As: Everyone's favourite Santa Claus returns with his lovable schlub of a side-kick (now grown up) and this time he's got serious Mommy Issues.

Hype: The sequel to 2003's glorious anti-Christmas film seems to have been in various stages of gestation since the first film came out, and some might question whether it's still timely. This goes doubly considering the poor reactions to the Dumb & Dumber and Zoolander belated sequels.

But there does seem to be more than enough enthusiasm in the tank for Willie, Thurman and Marcus to guarantee a good performance at the box office. Let's just hope they don't reduce it down to the best elements reductively (as Minions did) and that it doesn't feel like a retread with Kathy Bates added to try and spice things up.

And then of course there's Billy Bob Thornton's assessment: he openly admitted the sequel wouldn't be as good as the original back in 2014. So, there's that.
