25 Movie Sequels That Will Kick Ass In 2018

Even though Disney shelled out more than $50bn to purchase most of Fox's prime assets, there are apparently no immediate plans to kill off the projects that are already in motion. So we'll still see New Mutants (though it's been put back a year), Deadpool 2 and possibly even Gambit if it ever gets beyond the frequently-losing-directors phase anyway.

But first, we'll get to see the next film in the current X-Men timeline, as Simon Kinberg follows Bryan Singer into the X-Men director's chair for his take on the Dark Phoenix Saga. It's an iconic story for the mutants and one that deserves far better telling than it received in X-Men: The Last Stand. If Kinberg can guide that and deal with some of the less popular elements of Apocalypse, this should be a winner.

The cast is mostly set from the last movie, but the addition of Jessica Chastain is a smart move. Let's just hope that the young cast members introduced in Apocalypse blossom a little more and Sophie Turner in particular takes full advantage of her expanded role.
