25 Predictions For Summer 2016's Rotten Tomatoes Scores
24. The Jungle Book (72%)
Predicted Critical Consensus: "A heartfelt and visually stunning remake of the classic 1967 animated film, The Jungle Book ably reinvents a timeless tale for a new generation." There are almost always those holdout critics who simply won't like a remake because it's a remake, but from what's been shown off so far, Jon Favreau's Jungle Book is looking pretty critic-friendly so far. The best thing it can aim to be is a warm, somewhat nostalgic reboot that borrows the best from the animation while also serving up some fresh ideas for what filmmaking can achieve in 2016. Whether the talking animals will be well-received remains to be seen (the mouth sync just seems a tad, well, unnatural), but it'd be a surprise if this one went rotten. And smartly, it's firing out of the gate first, before Andy Serkis' twin project Jungle Book: Origins, which lands in late 2017.
