Predicted Critical Consensus: "If not reaching the hysterical heights of the original, Neighbours 2 is a mostly worthy sequel, aided by hilarious performances from new cast members Chloe Grace Moretz and Selena Gomez." Comedy sequels rarely better what came before, so there's little chance of Neighbours 2 besting the original's strong 73%, but most critics will probably give it the benefit of the doubt, given the addition of some feisty young actors and that it's possibly found a surprisingly effective way of one-upping the original premise without just lazily repeating it. As for what'll strike it down? It looks like the airbag gag is being recycled, so don't be surprised if critics attack the film for leaning too heavily on recalling prior jokes, and some will likely still say that the core plot is too similar to what came before. It won't please everyone, but fans of the first will likely enjoy it enough, and that's the goal really.
