Predicted Critical Consensus: "Despite Dwayne Johnson's charismatic performance, San Andreas fails to rise above the trappings of style over substance blockbuster fare, and isn't that stylish either." For a movie that releases in a little over two months, there's curiously very little hype for this epic disaster flick, which to date has released an uninspired trailer and relied largely on Johnson's huge social media presence for most of its marketing. There's no doubt the actor will give it his all, though this is likely to be one of his less-inspired big-budget outings of recent years, even if the Grand Theft Auto-baiting title will probably stop it from being a box office bomb. Short of a miracle, critics will attack this one like sharks to blood, though the key here is that expectations are low, and a pleasant surprise isn't completely out of the question (though definitely unlikely).
