25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless

6. The Car Fight Scene - Carry-On

It naturally didn't come close to catching the same airport-based Christmas action magic as Die Hard, from which inspiration was clearly taken, but Netflix's Carry-On was an enjoyable romp. Taron Egerton's intense best opposite a rarely-seen villainous Jason Bateman made for a compelling thriller.

Things changed around halfway through, however, shifting the flick from said thriller to an all-out action film. This started with a fight in a car between Elena Cole (Danielle Deadwyler) and an agent who turned out to be an imposter on their way to the airport.

The scene, in which the two characters fought each other while the car pounded on down the highway, hitting just about everything in its path, was presented as a one-shot. 30 seconds of fighting with no cutting, designed to maximise intensity and immersion in the scene. This would have been a great idea had the whole thing not been let down by the kind of CGI that completely removes the viewer from the moment.

Yes, belief has to be suspended, particularly in a film that takes as many narrative and plot liberties as this one, but the painfully obvious green screen here was a step too far.
