25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless
1. Welcome To Jurassic Park - Jurassic Park
There are plenty of movies and moments on this list that hold up to this day, years and possibly decades after they were first released. But on a different level entirely to most is Jurassic Park, and that magical first moment the world laid eyes on one of John Hammond's (Richard Attenborough) dinosaurs.
Though the eyes of a raptor could be spotted through its containment unit in the opening scene, it wasn't until Hammond got Ellie, Alan, and Ian (Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum) onto Isla Nublar that the Brachiosaurus was seen for the first time, and it was majestic. This was mind-blowing in 1993, and has lost none of that magic in 2025.
Part of what made Jurassic Park so special was that practical effects were used where possible, but for a hulking sauropod with a 32-foot-long neck standing in all its glory, there was no choice but to use CGI, and unlike most other films at the time, it had the ability to do it properly.
The stunning CGI, along with one of John Williams' most iconic scores, had made this one of the most timeless moments in movie history.
