25 Shocking CGI Movie Moments That Left You Speechless

22. Alfie The Cat - Argylle

There are a number of different words you could use to describe Matthew Vaughn's Argylle, and at the top of the list would be weird. Vaughn clearly tried to recapture the magic he found in Kingsman: The Secret Service, but just like with the sequel, The Golden Circle, and the prequel, The King's Man, he couldn't.

The insane story of Argylle's "source material", and the fact that Henry Cavill's titular character is fictional within the world of the film and only appears on screen for about ten minutes, have helped make this one a real head-scratcher, as has the bizarre CGI cat.

There are sub-par effects throughout the entire thing, from the rooftop chase in Greece at the beginning to the oil skating scene at the end, though Elly Conway's (Bryce Dallas Howard) cat Alfie is the feature that's the most flawed of all. Despite there being a real cat present for much of the filming, Claudia Schiffer's cat, Chip, no less, there was a lot of CGI required to capture what he got up to, and it simply didn't look good.

The two main culprits for this were Aidan (Sam Rockwell) throwing the cat off a roof to prove to Elly it was safe to jump, and having Alfie leap from Elly's shoulder to claw at Director Ritter's (Bryan Cranston) face. In both situations, there was the puzzling decision made to include unnecessarily close shots of the cat that highlighted just how bad the effects themselves were.
