25 Things Wrong With Marvel Phase Two So Far

Phase two of this great franchise is certainly not without its flaws.

Phase two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has, on the whole, been great up to now. The epic finale of phase one - which saw the Avengers assembling to take on the threat of Loki and his Chitauri army in New York City - has been surpassed with brilliant films like Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the cosmic adventure Guardians of the Galaxy. The success of the franchise as a whole, as a result of these films, is phenomenal. The films have grossed nearly $7 billion in total and phase two's Iron Man 3 alone grossed $1.2 billion of that last year, while Captain America: The Winter Soldier is the fourth highest-grossing film of this year so far with a worldwide gross of $714 million. But the second phase of the franchise's adventure hasn't all been great. The four films so far - Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy - have indeed had their flaws (some more than others, undoubtedly). In this article, we're going to take a look of the things that have gone wrong or which could have been better. Here are 25 things that have been wrong with Marvel Cinematic Universe's phase two so far (contains Marvel Cinematic Universe spoilers)...

25. Groot's Extended Vocabulary

Right, first things first; Guardians of the Galaxy was practically flawless. It is - without any shadow of a doubt - the best Marvel movie to date and one of the best comic book movies to date, period. However, it would no doubt be a point of criticism if we didn't include a couple of its flaws, so the first two entries in this list will get them out of the way (and they are only very minor). Groot is known for being able to say three words - "I" and "am" and "Groot", in that order. Nothing more, nothing less - Rocket even specified this quite explicitly during the movie. And yet, when the situation called for it, the tree-like humanoid alien was able to say "we are Groot". Granted, it was heart-warming, it represented the Guardians of the Galaxy accepting each other as friends and it didn't exactly ruin the movie, but it's one of those niggling issues that simply went without explanation.
