25 Things Wrong With Marvel Phase Two So Far

12. Tony Stark's Panic Attacks

Granted, Tony Stark is only human and it's more than acceptable that he may suffer panic attacks after a traumatic experience - but it just doesn't make sense with this version of the character. Iron Man 3 saw Stark suffering post-traumatic stress and freaking out as a result of his experience at the end of the Avengers movie - when he diverted a nuclear missile in to the portal, passed out in space, then fell back through the portal to Earth where he woke up seemingly no worse for wear. For any ordinary person - or even the unstable alcoholic version of Tony Stark from the comics - this would make sense, but not with Marvel Cinematic Universe Tony Stark. This guy isn't an on-edge alcoholic and he emerged from the events of the first Iron Man movie - in which he woke up in a cave with a car battery attached to a device that was embedded in his chest and was held hostage by terrorists - without showing any signs of post-traumatic stress. Why was he so disturbed by the events in the Avengers?
