Both Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier had two scenes in and during the credits. Thor: The Dark World introduced us to the Collector in the mid-credits scene, ready for Guardians of the Galaxy, and the post-credits scene saw Thor reunite with Jane Foster on Earth, before showing a Frost Monster from Jotunheim running amok in London after being transported there during the Convergence. Captain America: The Winter Soldier introduced us to Baron Strucker in the mid-credits scene, showed that he was in possession of Loki's staff from the Avengers, and that he had Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch imprisoned. Then, in the post-credits scene, we saw Bucky Barnes looking at a memorial exhibit dedicated to himself at the Smithsonian Institution. That's how you do credits scenes. These days, it is common practise for audiences to wait for the credits to roll to see some kind of hint at expansion and/or something to have a laugh at, and it was disappointing, therefore, to wait so long after Iron Man 3 and, to some extent, Guardians of the Galaxy for such anti-climatic scenes. Iron Man 3 merely showed Tony Stark chatting to Bruce Banner (who had fallen asleep) about his troubles, while Guardians of the Galaxy showed Howard the Duck drinking a cocktail and telling the Collector that allowing Cosmo to lick his face was "gross". Sure, both scenes were light-hearted fun, but we expected to see previews of future movies or hints about future occurrences. As a result, we left slightly disappointed.
