Earlier this year, students at North Bergen High School in New Jersey adapted the film into a play. Despite having no budget at all, its production values were incredibly impressive, with the alien costume in particular replicating the original design almost perfectly.

Ridley Scott caught wind of the production through social media and was so impressed by the idea that he donated money to the school to allow them to put on an encore performance. Sigourney Weaver attended and surprised the cast and crew backstage, much to their elation.

The sheer fact that 40 years after its original release, the film still retains its influence is proof of its importance in cinema history.
