21. The Facehugger Was Originally Going To Be Green

When finalising the props for shooting, the facehugger was initially intended to be painted green, most likely in keeping with the prevailing stereotype of aliens being green. However, Dan O'Bannon caught sight of the unpainted facehugger prop on set and found its human flesh coloured tone inventive and effective. He argued for it to remain as is, and the rest of the crew agreed.

This was undoubtedly the right decision, as the recognisable flesh tones of the creature despite its almost eldritch shape and anatomy add a familiarity that makes it all the more eerie.
