25 Things You Didn't Know About Ghostbusters

16. A Whole Sequence Involving The Dream Ghost Was Cut From The Final Film

You can probably remember the moment when a ghost unzips Ray's trousers as part of the montage sequence during the Ghostbusters movie, but did you know that this was actually part of a much longer sequence?

In a deleted scene, Ray and Winston pay a visit to Fort Detmerring, a fictional site of historical significance located close to the Hudson River. After some initial investigation, Stantz retires to the single officers’ quarters to check for any ghostly goings on on his PKE meter. After minutes of careful vigil, Stantz falls asleep, at which point a beautiful female ghost enters his chambers.

The whole Fort Detmerring sequence is another example of a scene that just feels out of place in the movie, which is probably why it was removed from the final cut. Using the Dream Ghost for a few seconds instead of this prolonged skit was a much better choice, although it is fun to see the team having adventures outside of the main story.
