25 Things You Didn't Know About The Mask
1. It Originally Ended With Charlie Wearing The Mask
The film as it stands ends with Tina throwing The Mask into the ocean while Stanley's pal Charlie (the late Richard Jeni) jumps into the water to chase it, all while Milo paddles away with the mask.
And while this is basically just a throwaway gag, the script originally concluded with Charlie actually wearing the mask, setting up a potential sequel where he would be in possession of it.
Reports suggest that the scene was even filmed, but test audiences loathed it enough that the Milo ending was added in reshoots. Either way, a sequel without Carrey wearing the mask is probably not what any fan wanted to see.
