24. Sending The Students Into The Forbidden Forest For Detention
During Dumbledore's first speech to the school during the sorting, he warns everyone to avoid the Forbidden Forest at all costs if they do not wish to die a most painful death. So why is he allowing first year students to wander around the forest unaccompanied by an adult, looking for a creature which is being hunted by an unknown predator, as their punishment for being out of bed at night? Seems legit. While Dumbledore obviously had no idea that Hogwarts was housing Lord Voldemort during Harry's first year, he probably should have been a bit less careless with the treatment of his students, as well as his staff at this point.
