Gilderoy Lockhart is the epitome of the phrase, WTF. He's an complete fraud and his lies are so meticulous that even he believes them. He has created this public image of someone who cannot be out smarted by two twelve year old students, especially to one who only discovered that he was a wizard a year earlier, yet this failed to be the case. His personality is infectious to only those of the female gender and his magical abilities are the equivalent to that of a squib, so when Harry and Ron force him go down into the Chamber of Secrets after Ginny, it's not hard to see his cowardice shine through. He is a complete disappointment to someone who should have been bold, brave and courageous, at least for the sake of the children. So how did he get a job at Hogwarts in the first place? How Dumbledore didn't see through him is quite frankly, riddikulus.
