Tarantino originally wanted James Woods to play an unspecified role in the film, and even made five different offers to his agent, who turned them down without even consulting Woods as the offers were far below Woods' usual quote.

But when Woods and Tarantino later met, Woods was surprised to learn that he could've been in the movie, and out of frustration, promptly fired his agent.

Tarantino refused to tell Woods which role he would've played because, in Tarantino's own words, "the actor who played the role was magnificent anyway."

Fans have speculated that Woods likely would've played Mr. Orange, because that's undeniably the role that seems best-suited to Woods' skill set.
