Reservoir Dogs was edited by relative industry newcomer Sally Menke, but as it turned out, fate almost had other plans, as Menke's agent strongly advised her against working on the small indie film, having just broken into the business by editing 1990's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Menke disagreed with her agent and accepted Tarantino's offer regardless, which kickstarted an almost 30-year working relationship between the two.

Menke went on to edit Tarantino's next six movies, but tragically passed away in 2010 from suspected heat stroke while hiking in California.

Nevertheless, taking Reservoir Dogs changed her career forever, and Tarantino was quoted as calling Menke his "only, truly genuine collaborator."
