3 Ups & 7 Downs From The Legend Of Tarzan

2. The Terrific Score

Rupert Gregson-Williams may not have composed much of interest lately, but he sure brings his A-game for this one. Yes, the score is blatantly inspired by the musical style of The Dark Knight Trilogy, but that's certainly not a bad thing.

Because the direction, writing and acting typically can't conspire to give the film much of an atmosphere or mood, it often falls to Gregson-Williams' score to pump the audience up, and his work is easily one of the strongest elements here.

Unlike the rest of the movie, the score has the epic sweep that audiences expect not only from a Tarzan film, but big-budget blockbusters in general. You may not want to ever see the film again, but you might want to check out that soundtrack.
