With X-Men: Apocalypse well on its way, casting rumours for a young Jean Grey (among other characters) have been running rampant. Everyone from Chloë Grace Moretz to Hailee Steinfeld have been suggested for the role of X-Men's resident telepath. Though, thanks to Famke Janssens now definitive performance as Jean Grey in the original X-Men trilogy, its difficult to consider that anyone could fill those shoes. However, Famke might not have had the role at all if it wasn't for a certain television star turning it down first. With a huge sitcom in the form of NBC's Mad About You and several hit films under her belt - Twister, As Good As It Gets, What Women Want, etc - the producers of X-Men obviously felt that Helen Hunt had the right stuff to bring the telepathic heroine to the big screen. Though, for whatever reason, the actress turned the role down and the rest is, as they say, history.
