Even though she never quite became the badass we all know and love from the comics (as well as the animated series), the general consensus has always been that Anna Paquin did an admirable job playing Rogue in the original X-Men trilogy. However, when the first film was underway, the filmmakers had a different choice for the character in the form of She's All That star Rachael Leigh Cook. Earlier this year the actress stopped by The Movie Crypt podcast with Joe Lynch & Adam Green and discussed in detail what exactly happened. On turning down the role she explained that it "was incredibly stupid. She admitted that she wasnt too familiar with the world of the X-men and wasn't quite sure if the filmmakers could pull the film off with their reportedly small (by Hollywood blockbuster standards) budget. The actress learned very quickly how successful a comic book movie could actually become.
