The transition from comic book to film has always been quite difficult for Marvel's Fantastic Four over the years. First there was the terrible B-movie produced by Roger Corman during the '90s that ultimately went unreleased (because it was indeed that bad). Then in 2005 we got an updated version; that wasn't much better in the grand scheme of things. The role of Johnny Storm aka Human Torch was played by the future Captain America himself, Chris Evans, who actually didn't do a terrible job. However, during the time leading up to the film's production, the frontrunner for the role was none other than Fast and the Furious star Paul Walker. Surely Walker would have been just as good in the role as Evans, if not better. Though, it probably wouldn't have helped the film much either way.
