Close your eyes for a moment. Think of Ben Grimm aka The Thing and then imagine who you think would make the ideal candidate to star as the character in a live-action film. Yup, it's true. James Gandolfini was strongly considered for the role of Ben Grimm in the Fantastic Four movie. The role, of course, went to Michael Chiklis (who didn't do a terrible job, per se). Although the details are sketchy. It's easy to imagine that Gandolfini had the wherewithal to realise that the film wasn't up to the standards of an actor such as himself. Though, you have to admit, hearing him shout "It's clobberin' time" would have been pretty epic! Watch nearly any episode of The Sopranos (especially any episode where he's arguing with Janice) and you can see that he would have nailed the role.
