When it came time to cast Superman's most bad-ass female Kryptonian, Ursa, the filmmakers initially looked to beloved sci-fi and horror actress Caroline Munro. She turned down the role in favor of what would become her most celebrated film appearance, Naomi in the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. In an interview with Horror News, the actress discussed her decision:
"Yes, its true, I was offered Ursa. My agent at the time, Dennis Salinger, said that I should go with the Bond film because it seemed the best bet. Superman at that time was untried, whereas there had been Bond films before and he felt that it was the best role to take."
The role was played by Sarah Douglas; who did an admirable job. Though, there is little doubt that Munro wouldn't have made an equally memorable Superman villain.
