30 Actors Who Almost Starred In A DC Movie

23. Brad Dourif - The Joker

With his sinister grin and savvy timing, it's hard to picture anyone but Jack Nicholson as The Joker in Tim Burton's Batman. However, believe it or not, actor, voice artist, and comedian Brad Dourif was actually Burton's first choice. Speaking at a Q&A to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the original 1988 Child's Play horror flick, Dourif revealed that studio executives scuppered his chances to play The Joker despite Burton's efforts. "Tim Burton saw me on a plane and wanted to cast me and they said no," said the actor, who has played evil doll Chucky in six Child's Play films. He joked: "He takes all my roles." This would mark the first of three times Dourif was considered for a role in a Batman film. The actor was also considered for the role of Scarecrow in the cancelled Batman Triumphant, as well as the Riddler in Batman Forever.
