Soon after, he’s chased down by a frightening masked murderer and takes shelter in a secluded laboratory with experimental technology - that’s when things really start to get weird.

The film’s strength is that, if its plot were boiled down, it would appear to be classic 1950s sci-fi, but the special sauce is how it unravels, feeling much more like a nail-biting horror flick, with heavy nods to slashers, giallo, and psychological thrillers.
