Poe Dameron is a pilot. A really good pilot, but a pilot all the same. So why is he so good?
Introduced in Episode VII: The Force Awakens played by Oscar Isaac, Poe is an ace pilot in the Resistance and flies a distinguishable black and gold X-Wing joined by BB-8. As an ace pilot, Poe rises up the ranks to become an integral part of the Resistance, leading the attack on Starkiller Base before ensuring the forces can escape from the First Order in The Last Jedi.
Dameron is sure to play a vital role in Episode IX too, and with a whole host of tie-in media featuring the character having emerged since the Force Awakens, it's clear that, out of all the recent additions to the Star Wars canon, he is by far one of the most beloved.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
